Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of workload and social support on the performance of midwives, with work motivation as a mediating variable, among Puskesmas (community health center) midwives in Bondowoso Regency. A quantitative approach was employed using path analysis with the assistance of SPSS version 25.0. The population in this study consisted of 565 midwives working in Puskesmas across Bondowoso. Based on a sample size of 20% of the population, a total of 113 respondents were selected using purposive sampling techniques. The results indicate that workload has a significant effect on work motivation but does not directly affect midwives’ performance. Conversely, social support significantly influences both motivation and performance. Moreover, work motivation fully mediates the effect of workload on performance and partially mediates the effect of social support on performance. These findings highlight the crucial role of motivation in maintaining and improving midwives' performance. Practical implications are directed toward policymakers, Puskesmas management, and the midwives themselves to enhance the quality of healthcare services by strengthening social support and managing workloads effectively. Keywords: workload, social support, work motivation, performance,
