Abstract
ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of leadership and work engagement on employee performance through employee commitment as an intervening variable among civil servants in the Kelurahan offices of Bondowoso Regency. Employing a quantitative approach, this research used a saturated sampling technique, involving a total population of 81 civil servants. Data were analyzed using path analysis with SPSS 25.0. The results revealed that leadership has a significant influence on employee commitment. Effective and communicative leadership fosters loyalty and responsibility among employees toward the organization. Work engagement also positively influences commitment, where enthusiastic and proud employees tend to be more committed. Furthermore, both leadership and work engagement directly affect employee performance. Assertive leadership with emotional intelligence, along with strong emotional involvement in work, enhances productivity. Moreover, employee commitment has a direct impact on performance. Employees with high commitment demonstrate consistency and optimal performance. The study also shows that leadership and work engagement influence performance indirectly through commitment as a mediating variable. Hence, employee commitment plays a crucial role in strengthening the impact of leadership and work engagement on performance. Keywords: Leadership, Work Engagement, Employee Commitment, Performance
