Abstract
ABSTRACT Public services at the village level play a crucial role in supporting local administration and meeting community needs. The Tanjung Kamal Village Office in Mangaran District, Situbondo Regency, still performs most of its administrative processes manually, such as issuing business certificates, domicile letters, and loss reports. This manual approach often leads to longer processing times, data inaccuracies, and difficulties in record management. Therefore, this research aims to design a web-based public service information system to improve the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of administrative services in Tanjung Kamal Village. This study employs a prototyping method consisting of user needs analysis, system design, prototype development, testing, and evaluation. Data were collected through interviews, field observations, and literature studies related to village public service systems. The system was developed using PHP, HTML, CSS, and MySQL, supported by XAMPP as the local server and Visual Studio Code as the code editor. The developed system provides several key features, including online service applications, digital verification by village officials, automatic letter numbering, and electronic archive management. Based on system testing, the implementation successfully reduced service processing time by more than 50% compared to manual methods. Additionally, the system allows residents to submit applications without visiting the village office directly. In conclusion, this web-based system contributes to building a more efficient, transparent, and modern public service framework that supports the realization of a digital village (smart village) concept.
