Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of consumptive behavior, lifestyle, environment, technology, and financial capability on customers’ decisions to apply for and use credit cards at Bank Mandiri and BCA Jember Branch. The research is motivated by the increasing use of credit cards in line with the digitalization of banking services and the growth of cashless transactions. A quantitative approach was employed using multiple linear regression analysis. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to eligible customers. The results indicate that consumptive behavior, lifestyle, environment, technology, and financial capability partially have a positive and significant effect on customer decisions. Consumptive behavior is driven by sensitivity to promotions, while lifestyle relates to modern activities such as traveling and dining. Technology influences decisions through efficiency and ease of digital banking services. Financial capability reflects customers’ confidence in financial planning and risk management. Simultaneously, all five variables significantly affect customer decisions. These findings suggest that credit card usage decisions are shaped by the interaction of emotional and rational factors supported by technological advancement. The study provides strategic implications for banks to enhance digital service performance, develop segmented promotional programs, and strengthen financial education to maintain credit portfolio quality and customer loyalty.
