Abstract

ABSTRACT The Effect of Empowerment, Infrastructure, Member Contribution, and Sustainability of the Migrant Worker Care Village Program (DESBUMI) on Welfare Improvement Through Income as an Intervening Variable (A Study in Dukuhdempok Village, Wuluhan District, Jember Regency). This study was motivated by the phenomenon of former migrant workers who often experience difficulties in social and economic reintegration after returning to their hometowns, which risks lowering their welfare levels. The Migrant Worker Care Village Program (DESBUMI) was established as an initiative to provide village-based protection and empowerment. The purpose of this study is to analyze the effect of empowerment, infrastructure, member contribution, and program sustainability on the improvement of former migrant workers' welfare through income as an intervening variable. The research method used is a descriptive quantitative approach. The research population included former migrant workers in Dukuhdempok Village who had been involved in the DESBUMI program in the last five years. A sample of 60 respondents was taken. Data collection techniques were carried out using questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis used Path Analysis to measure the direct and indirect effects between variables. The results showed that the variables of member contribution and program sustainability had a significant effect on the income of former migrant workers. Conversely, empowerment and infrastructure were not found to have a significant direct effect on income in this model. Regarding indirect effects, it was found that infrastructure has a fairly strong effect on welfare through the income variable. However, the variables of empowerment, member contribution, and program sustainability show a weak indirect effect on welfare through income. These findings indicate that strengthening the role of members and program consistency are crucial in improving the economic stability (income) of former migrant workers. Keywords: DESBUMI, Empowerment, Income, Infrastructure, Member Contributions, Program Sustainability, Welfare.
