Abstract

ABSTRACT Transportation is one of the important elements in supporting activities and turning the wheels of national development. The city area is a place for residents to carry out various activities. Facilities and infrastructure are needed to support community activities. The country of Indonesia has undergone a transformation, including in the field of transportation. The city of Jember is one of the big cities in Indonesia, where transportation in Jember is growing rapidly. Transportation provided by the government is not a solution for the community, online transportation can emerge as a service solution that can serve the community directly. The purpose of this research is to find out how potential and effective this online motorcycle taxi job is to become a job opportunity. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method using personal interview techniques, qualitative surveys, document studies and observations. The data sources used in this study were 5 people, namely online motorcycle taxi workers in Sumbersari District, Jember Regency. The results of the study indicate that a job as an online motorcycle taxi can be used as a job opportunity because the job as an online motorcycle taxi is free and not bound by time and income depends on the driver's intentions, and also because currently finding work is increasingly difficult because currently there are many companies that does not open a job vacancy, then this online motorcycle taxi job can be used as a job opportunity.
