Abstract

This study aims to determine the effects of liquidity, leverage, board of director, institusional ownership, sales growth and firm size on the financial distress with profitability as an intervening variable. The measurement of liquidity by current ratio, leverage by debt to equity ratio, board of director, institusional ownership, sales growth and firm size The samples used are steel companies which listed in Stock Exchange of Thailand 2013-2017. Path analysis is used to know the direct and indirect effects between variables in this study. The results of this study indicate that only institusional ownership and firm size which have a significant effect on profitability. While the independent variable that has a significant influence on financial distress are leverage and profitability while other variables have no significant effect. Moreover, the results of path analysis suggest that profitability can only be an intervening variable on the influence of board of director, institusional ownership, sales growth and firm size on the financial distress.
