Abstract

ABSTRACT DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT OF WEB-BASED E-VOTING FOR BEM CHAIRPERSON ELECTION (A CASE STUDY AT ITS MANDALA) Mohammad Yahya Afandi, Dr. Bambang Srikaloko, S.T, S.M, Bapak Drs. Karim Budiono, M.P Afandiyahya2@gmail.com The Executive Board of Students (BEM) ITS Mandala is a student organization that plays a crucial role in organizing Student Activity Units (UKM) and Student Affairs (UA) on campus. The President of BEM holds significant influence in managing BEM. The President of BEM is elected by students who have the right to vote for the BEM Chairperson. This research is conducted to make the future BEM Chairperson elections more efficient in terms of time, resources, and costs, as well as to utilize advancing technology. The benefits of this research are reducing expenses for printing thousands of ballot papers, reducing the number of committee members and manpower required for vote counting, as the tabulation will be done automatically by the system. To address the issues arising from manual elections, an information system called e-voting is developed. The research begins with data collection through observation, interviews, and literature review, followed by the system design methods such as designing the context diagram, data flow diagram (DFD), flowchart, entity relationship diagram (ERD), system interface design, and application testing. The research location is ITS Mandala in Jember. With the development of the web-based e-voting system for electing the BEM Chairperson, it is expected to be beneficial and assist in the BEM Chairperson election process. However, the web-based e-voting application design still has several shortcomings and will require improvements and innovations to keep up with the changing times. Keywords: e-voting, BEM President, web, votes.
