Abstract

ABSTRACT THE INFLUENCE OF THE INDUSTRIAL SECTOR AND INVESTMENT ON LABOR ABSORPTION RATE IN JEMBER DISTRICT By: Indah Ferdiana Economic Development Study Program STIE Mandala Jember The achievement of social welfare as the ultimate goal of development requires the creation of basic conditions, namely: 1. Sustainable economic growth: 2. the creation of strong economic conditions and 3. inclusive and equitable economic development (Arikunto et al, 2010) social welfare is expected to be achieved if the economy continue to grow so that in turn it will create more jobs and absorb more workers with a fair industry and investment. This study aims to examine and analyze the influence of industry and investment on employment in Jember Regency. The research period is five years, using secondary data provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics in the form of a combination of time series data (from 2016 to 2020). Hypothesis testing in this study was carried out using the Path Analysis Model under SPSS 20.0. Testing 2 (two) hypotheses with a significance level of = 0.05 obtained the following results: First, Industry and Investment have a positive and significant effect on labor absorption. The influence of Industry and Investment on employment has a significance probability value (Sig) of 0.000. The results of this study indicate that the increase in Industry and Investment will increase employment. Second, labor absorption has a positive and significant effect on social welfare. The effect of employment on social welfare has a significance probability value (Sig) of 0.013. The results of this study indicate that an increase in labor absorption leads to an increase in welfare. Keywords: Industry, investment and employment.
