Abstract

ABSTRACT The achievement of social welfare as the main goal of development requires the creation of basic conditions, namely: 1. Sustainable economic growth: 2. Creation of strong economic consumption and 3. inclusive and equitable economic development (Bappenas, 2010) social welfare is expected to be achieved if the economy continues to grow so that in turn will create more jobs and absorb more labor at a fair wage. This study aims to praise and analyze the influence of wages on the absorption of labor and social welfare in East Java Province. The study period was sixteen using secondary data provided by the Central Bureau of Statistics in the form of a combination of time series data (from 2001 to 2016). Hypothesis testing in this research is done by using Path Analysis Model under SPSS 20.0. Test 2 (two) hypothesis with significance level α = 0,05 obtained result as follows: First, minimum wage have positive influence and signifikansi to labor absorption. The effect of the minimum wage on the job has a probability significance value (Sig) of 0.000. The results of this study indicate that the increase in the minimum wage will increase employment. Secondly, the absorptive power of labor has a positive and significant impact on social welfare. The effect of labor absorption on social welfare has a probability of significance value (Sig) 0.013.
