Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the potential development of duck farming in Randuagung Village, Sumber Jambe District, and to examine its impact on community welfare. It seeks to determine the extent to which duck farming can be developed and contribute significantly to the local economy. The research uses a qualitative method with an exploratory nature through a case study approach. It aims to characterize and explore the potential profitability and scale of duck farming businesses, as well as the possible opportunities and risks faced by duck farmers in Randuagung Village, Sumber Jambe District, Jember Regency, both internally and externally. The sampling technique used in this research is purposive sampling. The findings of this study are based on descriptive data collected through field observations, interviews, and documentation. The duck farming potential in Randuagung Village greatly benefits the local community due to easy access to water and stable prices, which help facilitate and increase livestock production. The relationship between the scale of duck farming and income growth in Randuagung Village depends on the number of ducks raised; the more ducks that are raised, the higher the income generated, as reflected in the increasing number of eggs produced daily. One of the main challenges faced by duck farmers in Randuagung Village is the difficulty in finding grazing land during the tobacco season, as most farmers usually graze their ducks on post-harvest rice fields. A possible solution to overcome this challenge includes seeking land outside the area, renting land not used for tobacco cultivation, and preparing feed stock in advance of the tobacco season.
