Abstract

ABSTRACT The South Korean entertainment industry, especially the K-Pop music sector, has become one of the drivers of the global creative economy. However, high market volatility and dependence on trends make entertainment companies vulnerable to financial distress. This study aims to analyze the effect of profitability, liquidity, Leverage, sales growth, and activity on financial distress in South Korean entertainment companies listed on the Korea Stock Exchange (KRX) for the 20192023 period. The research method uses a quantitative approach with secondary data from the financial statements of 7 companies selected by purposive sampling from a total population of 51 companies. The data analysis used is descriptive statistical test, classical assumption test, multiple linear regression analysis, hypothesis testing and determination coefficient analysis. The results showed that partially, profitability, liquidity, and activity had a significant positive effect on financial distress, while Leverage and sales growth had no significant effect. Simultaneously, the five variables together have a significant effect on financial distress. Keywords: Financial distress, profitability, liquidity, Leverage.
