Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the influence of work culture, work environment, and employee competence on the performance of maritime safety supervisors, both partially and simultaneously, at the Class III Port Authority and Harbormaster Office (KSOP) Tanjung Wangi. The research is motivated by the increasing shipping activities at Ketapang Port, which require optimal safety oversight amid internal organizational challenges. A quantitative explanatory approach was used, with a census technique involving 85 permanent employees. Data were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire, then analyzed using multiple linear regression with SPSS assistance. The results indicate that, partially, work culture has no significant effect on performance. In contrast, both work environment and employee competence have a positive and significant influence. Simultaneously, the three variables significantly affect performance, contributing 79.3%, while the remaining 20.7% is influenced by other factors outside the research model. The practical implication of this study is the need to improve technical and non-technical competencies of employees, along with enhancing the physical and social aspects of the work environment. Although work culture was not statistically significant, it remains important to strengthen through the internalization of organizational values, leadership by example, and consistent policy implementation. This research is expected to serve as a reference for formulating human resource development policies in the port and maritime safety sectors.
